The laser and opto Web site
Dynaview sub sea camera for low level light operation without lamps.
Sub sea viewing in darkness is normally done by extra lamps. The lamps adds lots of problems and costs. Main problem is that the lamp illuminate particles in water so they appear as a heavy snow fall. What is behind the snow can not be seen by the operator. This is often called the white wall.

Dynaview is extremely sensitive and accepts blue green light. Sensitivity is as good as 1 single photon. It is far more sensitive than any available ICCD camera with an image intensifier. This makes it possible to operate at large deepest with ambient light only. In tests we have showed that we can get a god image at a level when a white paper can not be seen by a diver at 1 meter distance. Depending on water quality we may operate deeper than 400 meter with no lamps at all. This reduce the white wall effect a lot and visibility is getting far better.

Dynaview have a very large dynamic range and operates in all from strong sunlight to almost zero light. One special function is hot spot elimination mode. Here the DSP look for white dots and remove them and replace with the colors beside the white spot. This makes it possible to eliminate many of the white spots which comes when a lamp illuminate particles in water. Often a lamp create a scene looking like dense snowfall when there are many particles floating in the water. This white wall of particles do often hide what operators need to see. Here Dynaview offers an important extra advantage over other cameras.
