Time of flight laser radar systems is normally a pulsed laser distance meter that is mechanically scanned over an area. In some ways you can say you pauint the beam overe an area. The beam have 2 known aaaangles and a measured diistance. This is giving a polar coordinate related to the sensor itself.If many points are scanned the output will be a 3D map of the scanned area in absolute coordinates.
