Nord Lynx laser camera system is designed for operation from airborne platforms and portable use. The gated viewing laser camera is optimized for driving and navigation by looking to the screen . Penetration through snow and fog is very good and distance range can be increased by factor 4-5 compared to the bare eye or traditional image intensifiers. Nord Lynx has been tested on trucks in the arctic areas and on helicopters for SAR applications. The platforms equipped with Nord Lynx can operate in 100% darkness as well as in twilight where traditional goggles are over saturated. This is a very useful help for pilots and system operators. | Gated viewing is the ultimate technology to see under the worst environmental conditions. The technology is not well known as it is military related and they want to keep this out of the public customers. This technology can easiest be explained that we freeze or strobe a short laser pulse in its flight at speed of light. This is viewed by an image intensifier where the shutter is controlled with nano-sec. accuracy. The shutter can be opened and controlled precisely. This makes it possible to decide where you want to see and how far away. The depth of the illuminated zone can be controlled. By this technology you can control where you want to see and obstacles out side this area are black and not illuminated. Compare driving a car in heavy snow fall. Lights gives reflexes making you close to blind. Here you can illuminate behind the snow and see objects as negatives which is very comfortable Our systems are available in 3 versions optimized for each purpose. Aqualynx is optimized for submerged applications. SeaLynx is optimized for marine search and rescue, NordLynx is optimized for airborne search and rescue and low altitude flying. | Image from a forest The trees in the back ground is about 200 m far away They are illuminated and white. The bushes are about 30 m away and in front of the illuminated zone. They becomes black as a negative. The negative image is very efficient in seeing objects hidden inside vegetation and other obstacles. This image was impossible with the best on the market generation 3 goggles as they will see reflexes on the front of vegetation and not what is inside. This is the most common situation and the gated viewing laser cameras are always far better than any intensified system used today by police or military staff. |
The front located trees are black and give a dark shadow on the white illuminated area behind them. The illuminated depth is very white with good contrasts. Behind them is the dark area which is not illuminated in this image. The white area can be scanned in distance manually so each point from about 30 meter to 1000 meter can be viewed. The depth of the white area is adjustable from 15 meter to 350 meter. This can be selected to the application it is used in. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

Image from a small harbor In the front there is water . Water becomes almost black with a laser camera working at 850 nm. This makes it very easy to see objects in the water as they appears white against a black background. The white vertical lines are sticks in the water used for the boats. They are about 100 in diameter and 1 meter long. They are about 300 m away from the camera. Behind them there is a small bridge. Behind the bridge there is a sailing boat. The mast of the boat is the vertical white line. In the background there are some houses with lights . These lights do not disturb the intensifier. |

| Water absorbs the radiation of 830 nm near IR light very much. This gives almost no reflexes in the water which appears very dark. Anything in water gives reflexes and they are very bright. In this case there are poles in the water in a small harbor. They appears very white. Kelp hanging in water surface looks very white . These phenomena's makes this system very useful to find parts and things in water. A life jacket with reflexes can be detected at over 1000 meter in range in the most severe situations. Where ordinary night vision systems fail this is the solution. Thermal cameras are often blind in these surface skimming applications. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| Image by generation 2+ Device This image is from the same place as the image above but done by a good generation 2+ image intensified camera The illumination from lamps over saturate the details in darkness in front of the lights. This makes all the important details hidden and invisible for the operator. This is a typical situation for many search and rescue situations where there are some illuminated spots in the field of view. The gated camera is almost insensitive to this type of illumination . |

| Electrical wires behind some vegetation. Wires from power lines etc. can be detected at several hundred meter in distance. This makes it possible to see dangerous obstacles from a low flying helicopter. Nord Lynx is the perfect tool for checking landing sites for helicopters from air and night time.
