LineMapper the position defined video recording system for power line inspection
Thermal cameras are an option to the LineMapper system. These cameras can see defects inside the power lines and transformers and switches combined with then power lines. These cameras have limitations but is still a very useful option telling a lot about the power lines and its surrounding installations.

Thermography of a power line with its insulators. Here a defect is clearly viewed as there is much more heat in one of the joints than the others. THis tells there is a need for repair.

Measuring low temperatures on metallic surfaces is not so easy so this measurement do only tell a part of all what is needed to know.

Corona cameras see other things thermal cameras can not detect and is a very useful complement for the inspection.
Thermal measurement to transformers is very efficient and recommended. There are often many small transformers mounted on the pylons needing some tests and this is then easily done when the power line is checked.

Here the problems with emission coefficient is smaller and not a problem
Electrical components can be measured and checked. There are often switches on the pylons for disconnection separate parts of the power line net. Here there are high voltage switches and the thermal camera is very useful and good to have.
