The main system is designed to be mounted in the safety belts of a seat. There is a small gimbal with the cameras , laser distance meter and inertial navigation system mounted under the front of the helicopter. The GPS antenna is mounted on the top of the fuselage .
The outputs are videos/ images with geographical located pixels and a 3D flat projection plan produced by the laser distance meter readings. This system is optimized for relatively flat areas where topography is not too deviated. Deviations of 20-30 degree at max 10 meter horizontally over the image plane gives relatively small errors in any of the pixels.
The very high resolution of the cameras gives far more details and information than traditional surveying with a total station and this makes the generated outputs more suitable for many applications than the old technology .RoadMapper will be a future solutions for many operators and gives a far better general information to a much lower cost than any alternative.
